Story of Reog Ponorogo

The story " Rog Ponorogo " originated from a princess named Princess Songgolagit of Kediri kingdom . Songgolangit daughter is beautiful princess who became a dream of the sons of the king at the time. Many of the men who wanted to marry the king . However Songgolangit daughter has not wanted to get married at that time , even though his parents wanted him to marry and obtain a grandchild . When the daughter Songgolangit be confused then he meditated for instructions .

After an ascetic he finally get a clue . She will be married to someone who can do the terms which he gave . Candidates must be able to present him a show that has never existed before . A dance accompanied by gamelan music . Equipped with twin rows of as many as 140 horses tail as a bridesmaid , and the latter can deliver two-headed beast .

After the announcement spread , the remaining two candidates , because of the severity of conditions that must be met . The two candidates are King singobarong ( Singabarong ) of " royal Lodaya " and King Klonosewandono ( Klanasewandana ) of the " kingdom Bantarangin " .

Singobarong king is a king -headed tiger , savage and cruel . The people who oppose will be killed instantly . He also has a lot of ticks on his head to the point that he maintains a peacock to peg / eating ticks every day.

King Klonosewandono is a handsome and wise king . But he has a strange habit that is he likes men . But he promised all his people if he managed to marry the daughter Songgolangit then he will change the habits .

Finally singobarong tangible tiger head was brought into the kingdom of Kediri while perched upon a peacock . Then become a two-headed animals as a complement to the proposed terms Songgolangit goddess . Finally Goddess and King Singobarong Songgolangit married .
